TUFNOL Laminates Tufnol bearing materials are widely used where tough, wear resistant components are needed. They give good service under a very wide range of operating conditions, including continuous temperatures from cryogenic levels to well over 100°C and in a wide variety of situations where resistance to corrosion is needed. The range includes two specially developed types with friction - modifying additives, and a cotton fabric phenolic bearing grade. One potentially useful feature of Tufnol materials is their ability to be lubricated with water or with a water based process fluid. In many applications, this has led to simplified design, by eliminating the need for a sealed bearing, with oil or grease inside. Although Tufnol laminates are used dry in a great many less demanding wear applications, Tufnol bearing materials are used generally self lubricating and it is preferable to used a lubricant to develop their full bearing potential. Properly designed and lubricated , Tufnol bearings give excellent service for many years and are frequently a cost-effective choice. Bear Brand Bear Brand is a cotton fabric grade specially formulated for use as a lubricated bearing material. It has enhanced wearing properties and dimensional stability and gives excellent performance in a multitude of bearing applications, using water as a lubricant, or more conventional oils of greases. The low water absorption properties allow reduced clearances in bearings and also provide enhanced electrical insulation properties. Bear Brand is used for a wide range of wearing and bearing applications, e.g. oil or grease lubricated bearings, slideways, water lubricated marine bearings, pump sleeve bearing, seal rings, mixer bearings, slipper pads, rolling mill bearings, guide bushes and a wide variety of components which are lubricated by water based process fluids in which they operate TUFNOL CBM 2008 CBM 2008 is a new Composite Bearing Material specially developed to give excellent results in a wide range of bearing applications. It is manufactured from high quality synthetic fabric and resins and incorporates a special formulation of friction modifying additives, including MoSē, (Molybdenum Disulphide). It combines good wear performance with low water absorption and excellent dimensional stability. TUFNOL Grade 2F/3/PTFE Where a material is required for a dry bearing application, one grade of Tufnol is offered which does have self lubrication capabilities. Tufnol Grade 2F/3/PTFE is a cotton fabric laminate which contains fine particles of PTFE distributed throughout the material. The frictional properties of Grade 2F/3/PTFE are quite outstanding in dry bearing applications. The mechanical strength of the base laminate combines with the frictional properties of the PTFE dispersion to give GRADE 2F/3/PTFE a wear resistance greater than that of either material individually. This allows it to be used at speeds which would be considered prohibitive for many other dry bearing materials.
